Grant lives with his wife and children on Long Island, in New York City.

Grant was born, raised and attended school in Johannesburg, South Africa. His parents and siblings still reside in South Africa. After high school, Phillips moved to England in the United Kingdom to attend university. In 1997 Grant moved to New York City, landing in JFK airport armed with a student visa and $700.00.
Grant went on to study law in New York at Brooklyn Law School, a private school located in downtown Brooklyn, New York. Grant graduated from law school with honors and was the recipient of multiple graduation awards, including obtaining the highest grade in his graduating class in Bankruptcy and Debtor & Creditor Law.
